A sublime ceramic “Banko Yaki” teapot, made from stoneware and petalite, with excellent heat resistance. A “sencha” tea caddy with pleasant fragrances reminiscent of young spring leaves. Brewing instructions: infuse for 60 sec. in water at 85°C.

Banko” ceramics use petalite, a mineral belonging to the silicate family with excellent heat resistance. They are classified as semi-porcelain (stoneware), with properties somewhere between earthenware and porcelain. This is a typical local industry of the city of Yokkaichi, in Mie prefecture, whose production began in the middle of the Edo period.
